As the city transitions into a scenic backdrop of autumn leaves, now is the perfect time to lace up your hiking shoes and explore Georgia’s parks and trails. You will not want to miss out on the abundant natural flora and fauna scattered throughout the state.
Here is a list of Georgia trails and parks that will get you excited for outdoor adventures this season:
ITP Greenspaces
The ITP region, also known as “inside the perimeter,” has a collection of green spaces that redefine Atlanta’s urban identity.
Located in the city's heart, the Atlanta Beltline invites you to explore native trees, flowers and expansive lawns across 11 miles of completed and 10 miles of connector trails. If you want to learn more about the Beltline’s planting programs, catch a guided tour with Trees Atlanta. The Beltline is also home to many art and culture, such as dance demonstrations, music, murals, street art and sculpture installations.
Looking for the perfect place to lay out your picnic blanket this fall? Look no further than Piedmont Park. For 35 years, the park has served as a hub for outdoor recreation. The Piedmont Park Conservancy hosts a variety of programs throughout the year that aim to bring the Atlanta community together, including yoga, fishing and various art classes. The park also has trails, which are ideal for walking, biking and running. The community gardens are also popular at Piedmont Park and demonstrate the community’s commitment to urban farm practices.
Centennial Olympic Park is your destination for rich culture and fresh air. The park is full of monuments, historic landmarks and the iconic Quilt Plaza water gardens, which pay homage to the 1996 Summer Olympics and beckon you to discover Atlanta’s international legacy. Want to find cool events and exciting outdoor concerts? Southern Company Amphitheater, located within the park, is a place to be for open-air entertainment.
