Get to KNOW Atlanta’s MICHELIN-Star Rated Dining

Atlanta is home to an eclectic selection of fine dining, casual bites and unique culinary experiences. Last year, MICHELIN released its first-ever guide to Atlanta restaurants, highlighting local spots that earned green stars, bib gourmand and the prestigious MICHELIN star.

Wondering which restaurants topped the list? Here is your guide to five Atlanta reservation-only favorites that earned a MICHELIN star in 2023.

Lazy Betty

Known for its “Live Unhurried” mentality, Lazy Betty offers diners a savory menu that includes seafood, foie gras duck and more. Caviar service and vegetarian choices are also available. Ask your server about the wine pairing and enjoy a glass that perfectly complements your meal!

Chef Ron Hsu, culinary director at Lazy Betty, previously worked as the creative director at Le Bernardin, a three-star MICHELIN restaurant. Hsu and Chef Aaron Phillips create culinary masterpieces that reflect his professional training and Atlanta culture.

Hayakawa

Looking for a traditional Japanese sushi experience near Atlanta? Hayakawa in West Midtown invites diners to taste the finest fish selection in Atlanta, sourced from Tokyo’s Toyosu market and all over the globe. Chef Atsushi Hayakawa is known for his energetic banter, which echoes through the slick, intimate setting of the counter-service restaurant.

Diners enjoy a procession of small courses that will have your taste buds dancing. The appetizer trio is a delight: clear fish soup, scallop sashimi with miso-mustard sauce and simmered monkfish. Chef Hayakawa then crafts nigiri from fresh fish, amply sized in honor of Hokkaido tradition.

Mujō

Another Japanese favorite in West Midtown, Mujō features a U-shaped counter that makes dinnertime conversation comfortable. Chef J. Trent Harris and his team work hard to provide a crafted, ever-evolving menu that delights new and returning guests.

This restaurant is omakase-only, meaning “I’ll leave it up to you.” The chef makes all culinary decisions, and no substitutions or menu changes are available. Guests enjoy small plates to start before progressing to delicious choices of seasonal nigiri.

Mujō books tables by reservation only, so be sure to put your name on the list early!

Bacchanalia

Since opening in 1993, Bacchanalia has become one of Atlanta’s most celebrated culinary destinations. The American-style restaurant offers a four-course, prix fixe menu that relies solely on organic ingredients from the garden of chefs/owners Anne Quatrano and Clifford Harrison.

The first course leads well with options like crab fritters and steak tartare, followed by a second course of halibut, Maine lobster, lamb and more. Diners can pick from six choices for their third course, including valserena Parmigiano and a five-cheese plate. Lastly, the fourth course tempts your sweet tooth with rich flavors like chocolate, blackberry and peach.

Reservations are encouraged at Bacchanalia and may be made up to three months in advance.
